Harper's Bazaar

My role as a Senior Fashion Features Writer at Harper’s Bazaar India saw me working across the magazine’s fashion features, shopping pages, and style-led editorials. My role focused on shaping fashion stories with an emphasis on cultural relevance and a strong editorial point of view.

I worked on runway reports, how-to-wear guides, and trend-driven shopping features, tracking shifts in fashion in India and globally. This included interviewing key figures across fashion and culture, designers such as Alessandro Michelle, Phillip Lim, Tommy Hilfiger, Matthew Williamson, Ashish Soni, and Rahul Mishra to name a few as well as other emerging designers, evolving aesthetics, and the cultural movements shaping the industry.

The work balanced a global perspective with local sensibility, translating international trends for an Indian audience while consistently spotlighting homegrown talent, and contributing to Bazaar India’s voice as a contemporary, culture-led fashion title.

Alessandro is a revolutionary, but I also like to think of him as a punk. He defies orthodoxy. And he’s a fashion shaman too...he represents what he calls “a renewal of possibility”. And it’s alive with optimism, an inspiring lack of cynicism and a wide-eyed dreamer’s sense of wonder.

I can’t possibly make everyone happy and I’m not here to make everyone happy. I’m here to make clothes.

I truly feel that fashion, art, and culture all move hand in hand and feed off each other, as they express an overview of our current state of mind.

It was such a diverse era visually. Style icons at the time ranged from Bianca Jagger and Talitha Getty to David Bowie and Patti Smith. People were experimenting and open to fashion ideas; it was a defining period for fashion.

Very often, I am inspired by the idea of humble basics and how we can elevate them beyond a staple, everyday piece. The shirt is one of those key pieces for me
